Some prescription drugs are extremely addictive. Parents and doctors can’t explain away an addiction. Sometimes treatment is necessary.

Prescription drugs are very dangerous, and I only take them when absolutely necessary (and never anything that is potentially addictive). Some people do take them recreationally though, and become addicted. They still need help whether they got them from a doctor or not.

You have to understand. . .A lot of times people will get an injury, say they strained their back or something. . .they go to the doctor, the doctor gives them pain medicine. They take the pain medicine, but just like any other narcotic, these drugs can be addictive. Here you are taking pain medicine for your back, and your body then starts to tell you that you will die if you don’t have that drug in your system. You feel that pain constantly, whether your back is still injured or not, because your body is now addicted to that drug and your mind convinces itself that that drug is everything. You try to stop taking it, because you know it’s not right, but then you start going through withdrawal symptoms which feel worse than the affects of taking the drug. In these cases, generally people don’t want to be addicted, it just happens to them. It’s why my mother never let me or my sister use prescription pain medicine. You don’t hear of people getting addicted to aleve now do you.
